This is Nakayama Hakudo. Nicknamed "God of Kendo". Only member of the All Japan Kendo Federation to achieve both 10th dan and Master instructor titles in Jodo (art of the jo staff), Kendo (fencing), and Iaido (sword drawing). He had an instructor license in Shinto Muso ryu and achieved the Menkyo Kaiden scroll in Shindo Munen ryu, making him 7th soke of that style, and was the 18th soke of Hasegawa Eishin Ryu. He is founder of Muso Shinden ryu Iaijutsu and was the man who coined the term "iaido".

This seems to only work in the wintertime here in Florida, when people more often wear long sleeves ?

it does work better. lol. My cousin teaches Judo and he has a class specially for no gi judo for mixed martial artists though. I'm a little interested in seeing that.

These are practioners of Hozoin Ryu spearmanship. Their style is unique in that the monk who founded the style created a three pronged spear that pierces and tears. There's a poem that goes:

"It can be a spear to thrust. It can be a pole-sword to cleave. It can be a sickle to slash. In any case, it never fails to hit the target ."

Many people think judo, jujutsu, and aikido are all throws. While throws are the major focus of these arts, striking is very important as it can disrupt the opponent long enough to perform a technique. Atemi(striking) is rarely a technique in itself and is usually used in conjunction with a lock or a throw. The reason it isn't seen much is that most instructors want students to focus on proper form for the techniques before learning how to apply them. Here I present atemi used in Yanagi ryu aikijujutsu, Ogawa ryu jujutsu, and Daito ryu aikijujutsu, Judo, and Aikido

This is Mitsugi Saotome. He holds rank in Karate, Judo and Kendo. When he was young, he apprenticed himself to the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba. He was a live in student and after two years of training, became an instructor for the central dojo, continuing to train for another nine years until the founder died.
